CHÃO DA PORTELA was the name chosen for our first still wine, a sumptuous red from 1996 - actually the name of the first “quinta” (plot of vineyard) bought by the current generation’s great grandfather.
Selecting a name was very simple: we wanted a name linked to the company that we had just created – Sociedade Agrícola This is a wine that both before and after the company’s constitution won consecutive Gold and Silver medals in many highly respected national competitions.
CHÃO DA PORTELA’s image is, and will always be, sober and traditional: classic labels and the austere lines of Burgundy bottles. A classic image perfectly aligned with the elegance of the wine which holds its name.
